The Maia Project: Advanced Lotus Kit A three-layer lotus construction and sculpture kit

This kit is a journey of self-discovery, inspired by the story of Thumbelina (Maia), a tiny being who found her own path by setting authentic boundaries. As you create your lotus, you'll be building a beautiful, physical representation of your inner world and the boundaries that protect it. This is a form of Holistic art therapy I designed to help explore personal boundaries.

A Word on Skill Level: This is our advanced kit. It is designed for those who are confident with scissors and working with craft glue. While the instructions are clear, this project may be best suited for older children and adults, or for younger ages with adult supervision.

What You'll Need:

  • Included in your Maia Kit:

    • Three sheets of stencils (Decorative Leaves, Outer Petals, Inner Petals, and two circles)

    • 350 grams of Potter's Clay (for continued workability)

    • 2 sheets of 200g/m cardstock paper with handmade stencils drawn on.

    • A4 printout of written instructions and reflection work to guide you through the project.

  • Materials you will need to provide:

    • Craft glue (like a UHU glue stick)

    • Scissors

    • Pencil, pen, or markers to write on your petals (such as watercolour pencils or acrylic paints)

    • Something round, like a pencil or marker, to curl the petals

    • Clay tools, a household rolling pin, or cones—whatever you feel you need to work with the clay (your hands or sticks are fine too!)

Elements of self-exploration and discovery are woven into the journaling, creation, and construction of this three-part kit.
